The Preferred Language

2023.

Quill and ink, pencil and eraser on card.

Series of 7. 297mm x 210mm.

7 handwritten works on card with a singular line centrally, that shows some of the descriptions and language within society. A prescribed and impersonal language that says little to the actual lived experience. Below these words, are 7 of my own thoughts from my experience of grief written in pencil and then erased. This work explores the private, with the way in which censorship prevents real understanding and support within a universal human experience.
